Sybase iAnywhere Announces TPC-C Benchmark Using SQL Anywhere Server

TPC-C Benchmark with Total System Cost Less Than $20,000

Sybase iAnywhere has announced that SQL Anywhere version 11 on Dell PowerEdge has achieved outstanding price/performance results by delivering an audited TPC-C result at a cost of $0.85 per transaction1, demonstrating that high-performance database applications can be delivered inexpensively.

This TPC-C benchmark using SQL Anywhere achieved several records:

  • Best price/performance of any system priced under $65,000
  • Best performance of published TPC-C results for systems priced under $35,000
  • First ever TPC-C benchmark with a total cost under $20,000

With a total system cost of $17,541, this TPC-C benchmark demonstrates that database applications can achieve high performance on inexpensive, off-the-shelf hardware. The low-cost system configuration was selected to demonstrate that SQL Anywhere exceeds the high performance required by systems typically found in remote offices, workgroups and emerging Web 2.0 and Rich Internet Applications.
